Learn MoreCRDB Marathon Returns in 2026 with a New Mission of Solidarity
Building on the success of previous editions, CRDB Bank is proud to announce the launch of the CRDB Marathon 2026, which will take place on August 2, 2026, in Lubumbashi. Over the years, the CRDB Marathon has become much more than a sporting event. It has evolved into a platform for solidarity, community engagement, and social impact, helping to fund meaningful projects that benefit the most vulnerable members of society. Through this initiative, CRDB Bank reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and the well-being of the communities it serves. Previous Editions with Lasting Impact The CRDB Marathon has already demonstrated its ability to transform lives through the collective efforts of thousands of participants, partners, and sponsors. The 2024 edition supported the Pediatrics and Neonatology Department of Jason Sendwe General Referral Hospital in Lubumbashi by providing essential medical equipment to improve the care of newborns and children. The 2025 edition marked another significant milestone with the donation of a brand-new, fully equipped modern laboratory to the Ruashi Military Garrison Hospital. This initiative strengthened the hospital's diagnostic capabilities, improving both the quality and speed of medical care for the benefit of the local population. These achievements reflect CRDB Bank's determination to make the marathon a true driver of social and healthcare progress. 2026 Objective: Supporting the Diagnosis and Treatment of Skin Diseases among People Living with Albinism For the 2026 edition, CRDB Bank has chosen to dedicate the funds raised to supporting the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases affecting people living with albinism. People with albinism are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of the sun due to the absence or reduced production of melanin. This increased sensitivity exposes them to various dermatological conditions, including precancerous lesions and skin cancer, making regular screening and appropriate medical care essential. Through this initiative, CRDB Bank aims to improve access to dermatological consultations, diagnostic examinations, specialized treatment, and preventive healthcare services, ultimately enhancing the quality of life of people living with albinism. This cause reflects not only a public health priority but also a commitment to social inclusion by raising awareness of the challenges faced by this community. Run for a Cause That Changes Lives The CRDB Marathon 2026 will bring together professional athletes, recreational runners, businesses, partner institutions, and families around a shared purpose: using sport as a powerful vehicle for solidarity and hope. Every registration, every partnership, and every kilometer completed will directly contribute to improving access to quality healthcare and supporting the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases among people living with albinism. Join Us on August 2, 2026, in Lubumbashi On August 2, 2026, Lubumbashi will come alive with the spirit of solidarity, inclusion, and determination. Together, let us run to give people living with albinism better access to healthcare and the opportunity for a healthier, brighter future. CRDB Marathon 2026: The Race That Spreads Smiles.

Tanzania-based CRDB Bank brings its inaugural green bond to the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, raising financing for climate-smart agriculture, clean cooking energy and green buildings and transport systems in Tanzania. CRDB Bank Group has made history by listing its landmark green bond on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE), becoming one of the first commercial banks in Sub-Saharan Africa to have a domestically issued green bond admitted on LuxSE and displayed on the Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX), the world’s leading sustainable finance platform. Known as the Kijani bond, the Swahili word for “green”, the TZS 171.8 billion (equivalent to USD 65.7 million) million bond issuance admitted on LuxSE’s Securities Official List (LuxSE SOL) marks a significant milestone for CRDB Bank, Tanzania and the broader African continent, as it showcases the growing appetite and capability for climate-resilient investments originating from Africa and reaching global capital markets. The landmark listing was celebrated during an official Ring the Bell ceremony held at LuxSE on 30 June, and attended by the Group CEO of CRDB Bank Abdulmajid Mussa Nsekela, Luxembourg Stock Exchange Chief Commercial Officer and Member of the Executive Committee Arnaud Delestienne, the Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of Tanzania to Belgium and Luxembourg Mr. Juma Ali Salum, as well as other senior officials from CRDB Bank, LuxSE, and Orbit Securities Tanzania who served as the sponsoring broker for the Kijani Bond issuance. Connecting capital markets “This listing represents more than the culmination of a financial transaction, it marks a new chapter of partnership between Africa and Europe in financing the green transition,” said Abdulmajid Mussa Nsekela, Group CEO of CRDB Bank. “We are proud to be pioneers in this space, raising the equivalent of USD 65.7 million through our first green bond which was oversubscribed by 429%. Today, we take our sustainability journey global, not just to raise funds, but to raise the bar. This is a message to the world: Africa is ready to lead in sustainable finance with innovation, integrity, and ambition.” A pioneering green bond for Tanzania CRDB Bank’s green bond is the first of its kind in Tanzania and one of the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa at the time. The funds raised are already being deployed across high-impact sectors such as renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, clean cooking energy, green buildings, sustainable water and sanitation systems, as well as environmentally friendly transport solutions. “We are honoured to welcome CRDB Bank and its pioneering green bond to the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. This serves as a strong example of how international capital markets can help mobilise funding to ensure access to vital services and accelerate the green transition in Africa, and is a testament to the continent’s increasingly important role in the advancement of sustainable finance,” commented Arnaud Delestienne, Chief Commercial Officer and Member of the Executive Committee at LuxSE. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Juma Ali Salum, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of Tanzania to Belgium and Luxembourg, commended CRDB Bank’s leadership in sustainability: “Today’s listing is a proud moment for Tanzania and a proof to our nation’s commitment to the global climate agenda under the visionary leadership of Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. CRDB Bank’s Kijani Bond reflects Tanzania’s ambition to be a model of inclusive, climate-resilient growth. This is a powerful demonstration of Africa’s readiness to partner on a greener global future.” As an accredited entity of the United Nations Green Climate Fund (UN-GCF), CRDB Bank continues to position itself as a leader in sustainable finance across East and Central Africa. The admission of the Kijani Bond on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange amplifies CRDB Bank’s access to global capital while strengthening its impact on the ground. With strong governance, robust reporting frameworks, and a commitment to transparency, CRDB Bank’s green bond has already empowered thousands of women and youth-led businesses, supported climate-smart farming, and improved livelihoods across Tanzania.
